What you will do

  • Build and apply strategic transport models to support major transport schemes and planning work.
  • Use data, modelling techniques, and innovative methods to tackle real transport challenges.
  • Take part in the full modelling workflow, from initial data review and model development through to forecasting, scenario testing, mitigation appraisal, reporting, and visualisation.
  • Work with senior transport modellers and project managers to support both project delivery and bid preparation.
  • Assess schemes by testing future conditions and comparing different mitigation options.
  • Prepare outputs that help communicate technical findings clearly to clients and project teams.
  • Engage with clients as part of project work and contribute to effective communication of modelling results.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different disciplines and geographies, including support for work elsewhere in the UK and overseas when required.
  • Contribute to work that supports better transport systems and has a positive impact on communities.

What the team is looking for

  • Previous experience in transport modelling, ideally covering highways, public transport, and/or multimodal modelling.
  • Practical experience using one or more of the following packages: VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, or MATSim.
  • Experience with model development, calibration, and validation.
  • A solid understanding of TAG-related requirements, forecasting, and scenario testing.
  • Strong data analysis capability and confidence working with technical information.
  • Ability to write clear technical notes and reports, with strong attention to presentation quality.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both on your own and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
  • A desire to grow as a strategic modeller, broaden your technical toolkit, and develop your career in a supportive setting.
