An experienced Electronics Test and Validation Engineer is needed to join a specialist organisation working on advanced engineering projects for space applications. The position is based in Oxfordshire, England and sits within a team focused on developing electronic systems that must perform reliably in demanding, space-grade environments.
What you will do
- Carry out practical testing and validation work on electronic subsystems and printed circuit boards.
- Investigate hardware problems at a detailed level, tracing issues through integrated circuits, passive components, PCB tracks, and signal paths to identify the root cause.
- Set up, configure, and operate laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analysers, and similar instruments.
- Create and maintain Python scripts that automate tests, control instruments, and capture data from test runs.
- Support integration testing, along with environmental and functional verification activities for systems and subsystems.
- Review test data, analyse results, and assist with debugging hardware failures in the lab.
- Maintain clear documentation, including test records and traceability information, so that results and procedures are properly tracked.
What the employer is looking for
- Previous experience as an Electronics Test, Verification, or Validation Engineer.
- Experience gained in aerospace, space, defence, or another environment where reliability and robustness are critical.
- Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to diagnose issues at both component and PCB level.
- Practical experience using electronic test and measurement equipment in a laboratory setting.
- Background in hardware validation, system-level testing, and debugging.
- Good working knowledge of Python for automation, data acquisition, and instrument control.
- This is an experienced hire role, so applicants should already have relevant hands-on engineering experience.
