This position sits within Lenovo’s Hybrid Cloud Services professional services organization and is focused on power and cooling support for mission-critical environments. The successful candidate will help ensure that secondary cooling water systems used for direct liquid cooling of high-performance servers are properly treated, compliant, and operating at the level needed for reliability, efficiency, and environmental safety. The role is part of Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group, and it combines technical water-quality work with customer-facing service delivery.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of water treatment and compliance activities for secondary cooling systems in data centers that support direct liquid cooling.
  • Manage chemical treatment programs to control scale formation, corrosion, and biological contamination.
  • Perform quarterly sampling and field testing of water for biological growth, review the results, and act on any issues that could affect compliance or system performance.
  • Keep water chemistry within the correct operating range so the cooling infrastructure remains dependable, efficient, and environmentally responsible.
  • Work with approved third-party vendors to provide global support for water-quality and compliance requirements.
  • Partner closely with Lenovo’s laboratory team to monitor conditions, review diagnostics, and prepare recommendations for resolving customer water-quality problems.
  • Review the performance of outsourced water-treatment suppliers and help improve service quality where needed.
  • Use your understanding of the main cooling components in direct liquid cooling systems to assist with troubleshooting and operational problem-solving.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid filter replacement, when these are recommended by equipment manufacturers or Lenovo consultants.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites and manage several assignments at once as part of customer-managed service work.

What Lenovo is looking for

  • At least two years of experience in water-quality management or environmental compliance, preferably with exposure to industrial settings or data centers that use cooling systems or HVAC water treatment.
  • Knowledge gained through study or work in environmental science, mechanical engineering, chemistry, water resources, or a similar field.
  • Background or familiarity with high-performance computing systems.
  • Strong grasp of water chemistry as it relates to industrial cooling applications.
  • Understanding of building management systems and tools used to monitor water conditions.
  • Ability to coordinate contractors and work effectively across multiple functions and teams.
  • Proven ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and push issues through to completion.
  • Useful certifications such as Certified Water Technologist or OSHA 30 would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel approximately half of the time.
  • Openness to learning Lenovo’s methods and technologies, with full training provided for someone who brings enthusiasm and a strong desire to develop in the role.
