What you will do

  • Own complex programs from start to finish, using structured project management practices, agile tracking, risk monitoring, and budget oversight to keep delivery on course.
  • Bring order to uncertainty by converting high-level strategic direction into practical execution plans with defined milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Work with leadership and external collaborators to turn research results into meaningful outcomes such as products, demonstrations, or partnership opportunities that create commercial, societal, or reputational value.
  • Stay ahead of challenges by identifying risks, dependencies, and technical requirements early, maintaining documentation, and proposing solutions before issues escalate.
  • Support team effectiveness by building strong relationships, coaching colleagues, improving ways of working, and encouraging people to do their best work.
  • Collaborate across research, engineering, computational biology, product, and other functions to move programs forward and maintain momentum across stakeholders.
  • Contribute to projects and processes that extend beyond a single program and support broader work across the science and strategic initiatives unit.

What the role requires

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical subject, or equivalent practical experience gained in the field.
  • Five or more years working in program management.
  • Five or more years leading initiatives that span multiple teams or functions.
  • Experience working closely with outside partners and handling vendor relationships.
  • Prior exposure to robotics, automation, materials labs, wet labs, or systems engineering.
  • A strong technical foundation, including an understanding of how AI can be applied to lab automation and research conducted in the loop with experiments.
  • The ability to influence cross-functional groups and explain sophisticated technical ideas clearly to executive audiences.
  • A demonstrated ability to improve workflows, operating processes, and governance structures in ways that increase research efficiency.
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment for managing important external products and partnerships while preserving research speed.
