This role sits within Google Cloudâs generative AI forward-deployed engineering function. It is aimed at an engineer who can work directly with customers, not just design solutions from a distance. The position is centered on taking frontier AI capabilities and turning them into reliable, production-ready systems inside customer environments. The work calls for someone with a strong builder mindset who can code, debug, and help ship bespoke agentic solutions while also uncovering the practical issues that block enterprise adoption.
The role is part of Google Cloudâs go-to-market organization and is positioned as a hands-on bridge between Googleâs AI products and the realities of customer infrastructure. You would be expected to help strategic accounts overcome integration hurdles, data readiness problems, and state-management challenges, while also feeding what you learn in the field back into Google Cloudâs product direction. The posting emphasizes close collaboration, high ownership, and the ability to operate with the initiative of a founder-like engineer.
What you would do
- Work as an embedded engineer for AI deployments, helping customers move from quick prototypes to production-grade agentic workflows that can demonstrate measurable business impact.
- Write and debug code for custom AI applications, including multi-agent systems and Model Context Protocol servers.
- Build the technical links between Googleâs AI offerings and customer systems, such as APIs, older data stores, and security controls.
- Help solve the practical barriers that often stop AI projects from reaching enterprise scale, including integration complexity, data preparation issues, and state-management problems.
- Develop evaluation and observability tooling so agentic systems can be assessed for accuracy, safety, and latency.
- Identify recurring patterns and pain points from customer work and convert them into reusable building blocks or formal product feedback for Google engineering teams.
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams to promote strong development practices and support durable adoption of the solutions you build together.
- Act as a feedback channel from the field into Google Cloudâs roadmap, helping shape future product improvements based on real deployment experience.
What the role requires
- A bachelorâs degree in engineering, computer science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Eight or more years of experience in cloud computing or in a technical customer-facing role.
- Experience delivering AI systems from initial concept through production launch, including architecture work on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience creating pipelines for structured and unstructured data, using vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation-style approaches to support enterprise AI solutions.
- Experience running technical discovery sessions.
- Strong ability to handle ambiguous problems, make decisions, influence stakeholders, and bring deep expertise to complex technical work.
- Preferred background includes a masterâs degree or PhD in AI, computer science, or a similar technical discipline.
- Preferred experience with multi-agent frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or ADK, along with advanced orchestration patterns like ReAct, self-reflection, and hierarchical delegation.
- Preferred familiarity with LLM-native operational metrics such as tokens per second and cost per request, plus techniques for improving state management and detailed tracing.
- English fluency is required for the role unless the posting states otherwise.
Compensation and perks
- For Ireland, the listed salary range is â¬150,000 to â¬154,000.
- The Ireland package also includes a 20% bonus target.
- Equity is part of the compensation package.
- Benefits are included, and the posting points applicants to Googleâs benefits information for more detail.
- You would have access to Googleâs AI portfolio, including Gemini models and the Vertex AI platform.
- The role offers collaboration with DeepMind engineering and research experts.
- The position is within Google Cloudâs commercial organization, with the chance to work on customer-facing AI deployments at scale.
Location and working setup
The posting says applicants can choose a preferred work location from Dublin, Ireland or London, UK. It does not describe a remote arrangement, so the role should be understood as based in one of those locations rather than explicitly remote.
