An opportunity has opened for a Java Software Engineer to join a leading semiconductor organisation focused on high-performance mixed-signal processing. The role is based in London and offers a flexible salary, competitive benefits, and an almost fully remote working arrangement.
In this position, you will help create and improve cross-platform applications, software development kits, and developer-focused tooling. A major part of the work involves building internal tools that support advanced hardware configuration and tuning workflows, so the software you develop will play an important role in enabling the wider engineering function.
What you will be doing
- Designing and developing cross-platform software applications and related tooling.
- Extending and refining SDKs and internal developer tools.
- Building polished internal applications that support hardware configuration and tuning activities.
- Working closely with UX specialists, hardware engineers, and software colleagues to deliver practical and well-crafted tools.
- Contributing to the ongoing evolution of software used in a technically advanced semiconductor environment.
What the employer is looking for
- Previous experience developing desktop applications using Java.
- Familiarity with Java-based UI frameworks or similar technologies, such as JavaFX, Swing, or Qt.
- Strong object-oriented programming ability and a solid grasp of object-oriented design.
- Experience writing multithreaded applications.
- Comfort working in a collaborative engineering setting with input from UX, hardware, and software teams.
- Desirable experience with build automation and CI/CD practices.
- Desirable experience using Docker.
Working arrangement and location
- The role follows a hybrid pattern.
- You will need to be onsite in the London office for at least one day each week.
- The remainder of the working week can be carried out remotely.
