The work centers on building and executing defense strategies, running investigations, gathering and reviewing information, and representing the company in interactions with external authorities. The role is intended for an experienced lawyer who can handle complex, cross-border matters and operate confidently in situations that may involve overlapping regulatory, litigation, and civil issues.
What you would do
- Take the lead on responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, enforcement proceedings, litigation, and related civil disputes.
- Shape and manage the companyâs defense approach in matters involving governments and regulators, including deciding the strategy to follow.
- Carry out or oversee investigations connected to those matters.
- Direct the collection, review, and production of information used in external submissions and disclosures.
- Advise on audits and examinations conducted by government or regulatory bodies.
- Represent the company in engagements with regulators and other authorities.
What the company is looking for
- A JD, LL.B., or an equivalent legal degree, or comparable practical legal experience.
- Admission to the bar and good standing, or another valid authorization to practice law in the jurisdiction where the role is based, such as registered in-house status.
- At least seven years of attorney-level experience gained in government, in-house legal work, or a law firm.
- Hands-on experience with cross-border litigation or regulatory defense matters in EMEA.
- Experience handling legal, regulatory, and litigation issues, including work focused on identifying, reducing, and avoiding regulatory risk.
- Experience with affirmative litigation, including judicial review, class actions, or litigation before the EU Court of Justice.
- The ability to own outcomes, make decisions, solve unclear problems, and influence stakeholders effectively.
- Strong depth of expertise in the relevant legal domain.
Preferred background
- Experience working with regulators such as CnaM, Ofcom, and the European Commission, as well as other content, media, or consumer protection authorities.
- Experience advising or interacting with public company boards and their counsel, including special committees and audit committees.
- Experience responding to formal requests for information from regulators.
Compensation and benefits
