In this role, you would work with Amazon Web Services’ largest enterprise customers to help them apply the shared responsibility model as they move to the cloud.

This position is aimed at a governance, risk, and compliance professional who can help organizations navigate the challenges of moving systems and workloads into cloud environments. The role is centered on helping executives address enterprise risk management needs through highly scalable architectures. As a Senior Assurance Consultant, you would contribute to the growth of the Security Assurance practice and help customers understand how AWS’s services can support secure operations while also demonstrating that compliance goals can be met. The work sits at the intersection of cloud, cybersecurity, and compliance, and it involves supporting customers as they move regulated data and workloads into AWS while addressing risk, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

What you would do

  • Lead groups made up of Amazon staff, partners, and customers to improve security assurance and compliance programs.
  • Guide customers toward practical and innovative compliance and risk management strategies that help them move sensitive workloads to the cloud faster.
  • Handle customer engagements that focus on answering security assurance questions and explaining how risk can be managed and compliance achieved in AWS.
  • Take part in deep technical and strategic conversations, present recommendations, and demonstrate how compliance can be automated in AWS environments.
  • Work closely with AWS engineering, support, and business teams to bring customer and partner feedback into product and technology planning.
  • Help educate customers on how AWS’s product-led and people-powered services can support secure business operations and compliance assurance.
  • Support customers in meeting the specific risk, regulatory, and compliance demands associated with cloud migration.
  • Be prepared to travel to customer locations when needed.

What the role calls for

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, Information Security, or a closely related field.
  • Professional experience in information security and compliance.
  • Hands-on background in risk management and internal audit work, including risk assessments, audits, control design, enterprise control frameworks, and risk prioritization.
  • Experience protecting cloud software services, with an understanding of how to design for scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • At least three years of experience advising customers on architectures aligned to standards and regulations such as NIST 800-53 and GDPR.
  • The ability to work through a wide range of compliance requirements, get into the details, convert requirements into scalable solutions, and communicate clearly with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Preferred credentials such as CPA, CMA, CISA, CIA, or similar qualifications in risk, audit, or compliance.
  • Preferred experience carrying out security assessments and information systems audits across networks, operating systems, application security, and IT processes.
  • A solid understanding of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps approaches and the way they influence risk and compliance management.
  • Preferred technical security certifications such as CISSP or CISM.
  • Evidence of strategic thinking across business, product, and technical issues.
  • A master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Information Security, or comparable experience is preferred.
