| Category | IT Jobs |
| Job Type | Full Time |
| Location | London |
This role sits within Palantirâs product development organisation in London and is focused on keeping mission-critical customer workflows stable, reliable, and resilient. As a Forward Deployed Reliability Engineer, you will work directly with operational issues in the field, using on-call experience and incident response to uncover where systems, workflows, and processes can be improved. The job is highly hands-on: you will solve urgent problems quickly, then turn what you learn into better tooling, stronger documentation, and product or workflow changes that reduce future incidents and improve service quality for more customers.
What you will do
- Build a deep understanding of Palantirâs software and the operational processes that support customer deployments.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond rapidly to critical incidents affecting important workflows.
- Diagnose issues in the field, resolve them, and work to prevent similar problems from recurring.
- Partner with internal teams to make Foundry workflows more scalable and more dependable for customers.
- Identify repeated pain points, manual steps, and inefficiencies, then automate or streamline them where possible.
- Use insights from incidents and support work to recommend and implement product improvements.
- Write clear, practical documentation and share best practices so reliability improvements can be adopted more broadly.
- Take a pragmatic approach to problem-solving: address the immediate issue first, then pursue longer-term fixes, simplifications, and resilience improvements.
The role is not limited to fixing breakages. It also involves looking for opportunities to reduce operational burden, improve automation, and make the overall system easier to support. Learnings from support and incident response are expected to be captured and reused so that the team, and eventually the wider organisation, benefits from them.
While you are not expected to work on weekends or outside normal business hours unless you are on call, you must be available to respond to serious outages during your assigned on-call weeks.
What Palantir is looking for
- Comfort working alone when needed, while also collaborating effectively with others to solve technical and operational problems that may not have obvious answers.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work well with technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Programming experience in Python and Java, along with practical SQL skills.
- Understanding of parallel data processing and experience improving Spark job performance.
- Strong organisation, careful attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise work effectively.
- A resourceful, inventive mindset that performs well in fast-paced and changing environments.
- Experience investigating root causes and documenting solutions in a way that helps others learn from them.
- Enthusiasm for practical troubleshooting, ongoing improvement, and sharing knowledge across a team.
Minimum background
- A technical degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
Working environment and culture
Palantir describes its culture as one that values excellence regardless of background and aims to support people based on their strengths, skills, and interests rather than through traditional career ladders. The company also says it invests in employee health and wellbeing, with offerings that can differ by region.
For this role, Palantir emphasises in-person collaboration as the preferred way of working because it believes being together leads to better creative outcomes. Many teams offer hybrid arrangements, typically allowing work from home one or two days each week. Remote work is only available in exceptional cases for certain roles, and if a role is designated as remote, employees must work from the city or country where they are employed. If a role is designated onsite, office attendance is required.
Application and hiring notes
- Palantir says it will provide reasonable accommodations for applicants or candidates with disabilities who need help during the application or hiring process.
- Applicants are warned that they will never be asked to pay money or provide financial information as part of the interview process.
- If someone appears to be running a scam, candidates are advised to stop communicating and consider reporting it to the appropriate authorities.
