Company Name Amazon

Job Type Full Time

This role sits at the centre of Amazon’s operations, where the focus is on getting customer orders fulfilled and dispatched efficiently so deliveries arrive on time. As an Operations Manager, you will help drive safety, quality, and productivity across the site by bringing teams together, setting the operational direction, and making sure day-to-day activity supports wider business goals. The position is aimed at someone who can lead managers, improve performance, and help shape the next stage of operational excellence.

What you will do

  • Lead and develop a group of Area Managers, helping them perform well and grow in their roles.
  • Run operational teams on the night shift, handle issues as they come up, and improve site results.
  • Measure shift performance against business targets and introduce actions that raise efficiency and overall operational standards.
  • Work in close partnership with support functions such as HR, Finance, Health and Safety, and Security.
  • Plan, design, and implement site initiatives that improve how the operation performs.
  • Serve as an important connection point between finance, safety, and operations integration teams.
  • Stay close to the daily rhythm of the site while also helping to develop new ideas and improvements.
  • Join meetings with different business areas, analyse performance and risk information, and prepare for changing demand levels.
  • Coach and mentor your team regularly so they continue to develop as managers and leaders.

What the role looks like day to day

You will be based on the night shift at one of Amazon’s operational sites. The job combines hands-on site leadership with broader coordination across multiple teams. A typical day may include reviewing performance data, examining risk indicators, meeting with colleagues from different functions, and planning ahead for future demand. You will also spend time supporting, guiding, and developing your team so they can deliver strong results and grow in confidence.

Team and business context

Customer Fulfilment is a core part of Amazon’s network and plays a major role in getting products to customers quickly and affordably. The work takes place in fulfilment centres, which are a key starting point in Amazon’s logistics chain and are often described as the first stage of the journey for most packages. These sites manage fast-moving inventory and support round-the-clock delivery activity, with opportunities for people who work with physical goods as well as those who analyse data to support decision-making.

What you need

  • A bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.
  • Experience leading people and managing relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience using data to shape business decisions.
  • Experience in operations or supply chain work.
  • Preferred experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or a similar environment.
  • Preferred knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen approaches.
  • Preferred professional experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Confidence working in a fast-moving operational setting and leading teams through change.
  • Strong ability to analyse performance, identify issues, and turn insights into practical improvements.
