This role is for an Area Manager within Amazonâs fulfillment center operations. The position sits in the heart of the companyâs logistics network, where inventory is managed and the core workflows that support receiving, stowing, picking, packing, and shipping are carried out. What you will do
- Take ownership of one of the main operational areas in the fulfillment center, such as receive, stow, pick, pack, or ship.
- Make sure the workflows in your area run effectively and that customer expectations are consistently achieved or surpassed.
- Lead a team of around 80 to 120 associates, providing direction, support, and day-to-day leadership.
- Oversee training and onboarding so new team members are integrated smoothly and can perform confidently in the operation.
- Encourage, energize, and guide your team while keeping attention on progress and key performance measures.
- Use good judgment to keep work aligned with operational goals and to help the team meet critical targets.
- Promote a safe working environment by reinforcing Amazonâs health and safety standards.
- Partner with other functions to solve operational challenges and remove blockers.
- Maintain high standards for process quality across the area you manage.
- Protect inventory accuracy through careful operational control and attention to detail.
- Continuously look for ways to improve processes and make them more efficient and streamlined.
- Develop strong knowledge of broader fulfillment center processes so you can act as a subject matter expert.
- Share effective working methods and best practices with colleagues and your wider network.
What Amazon is looking for
- A bachelorâs degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a similar field.
- Experience managing teams and supporting their development.
- Background in project management and program management.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work smoothly with stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfort working in a flexible schedule or shift-based environment, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Experience with Six Sigma approaches is an advantage.
