Armâs Systems Engineering organization creates the hardware building blocks that make up Arm System IP, including interconnect, memory, and other system-level components that help Arm processors and additional IP blocks work together inside SoCs. In practical terms, this work provides the connective layer that allows processors, accelerators, memory controllers, and peripherals to operate as a complete system. The Technical Communications team supporting this area is responsible for producing the documentation for Arm System IP and for the IP Tooling software platform used to configure Arm IP. In this senior role, you would act as a technical leader within that team, taking ownership of documentation strategy for System IP programs and guiding content from early planning through to final delivery. The position combines hands-on technical writing with mentorship and people leadership, and it plays an important part in helping partners use Arm products effectively while supporting product milestones and customer success.
What you will do
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve documentation that is clear, accurate, and focused on the needs of users for both System IP hardware designs and the IP Tooling software platform.
- Work with engineering and other cross-functional teams to gather detailed technical information, check it for accuracy, and turn it into usable documentation.
- Handle several documentation streams at once across multiple IP projects and release schedules.
- Lead and support other Information Developers by mentoring them and overseeing how content is planned and delivered.
- Design and introduce documentation structures, standards, and review processes that can be used consistently across different projects.
- Improve authoring tools and content workflows so the team can work more efficiently and produce higher-quality documentation.
- Promote strong content quality and help influence documentation direction across System IP initiatives and the wider Technical Communications group.
- Contribute as a senior team member who helps shape both the documentation output and the development of colleagues.
Skills and experience needed
- At least four years of experience as an information developer or technical writer working on large and complex documentation sets.
- Experience coordinating content across multiple projects and release cycles.
- Strong problem-solving ability, with a flexible and practical approach to work.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, especially in environments involving several disciplines and stakeholders.
- Interest in learning about emerging technologies and keeping documentation methods up to date.
- Ability to use professional documentation tools and deliver content in a scalable, efficient way.
- Comfort with change and the ability to adapt as priorities evolve.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and open-minded working style.
Helpful background and preferred experience
- Experience documenting low-level hardware or software in SoC, semiconductor, or embedded systems environments, such as firmware, board support packages, boot flows, or system configuration.
- Understanding of hardware design concepts such as RTL, IP integration, chip bring-up, validation processes, or FPGA prototyping.
- Exposure to modern documentation toolchains and automation methods, including Markdown, reStructuredText, Jenkins, JSON, YAML, Python, or shift-left content generation.
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject such as Computer Science, Physics, Maths, English, Linguistics, or Law would be beneficial.
- Previous people leadership experience is an advantage, and a strong interest in developing toward people leadership in the future is also valuable.
- The team emphasizes that not every candidate needs to meet every item on the list; a strong foundation and curiosity to learn are important.
- Arm encourages applications from people who are interested in the role even if they are unsure they match every requirement, because the position may be adapted for the right person.
