Company Name Amazon
Job Role Account Manager, Transport – Roads, Regulation Regional, Central Government
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This role sits within AWS’s UK public sector transport business and focuses on helping major roads, regulation, and regional transport organisations adopt cloud technology to improve how they plan, operate, and deliver services. The position is aimed at someone who can combine commercial drive, customer empathy, and technology understanding to help AWS become a trusted platform partner for some of the UK’s most important transport bodies. The work is closely tied to large-scale public investment in roads and regional transport, and the aim is to help customers use cloud-native analytics, real-time operational tools, and AI-enabled optimisation to increase capacity and improve outcomes.

The territory includes a range of high-profile organisations such as National Highways, the Department for Transport, Transport for London, Transport for Greater Manchester, Transport for West Midlands, DVLA, and DVSA. The role is designed for a self-motivated account leader who wants to build a business, influence technology decisions, and make a measurable difference to how transport services are delivered across the UK.

What you will do

  • Drive commercial growth and increase AWS’s share of the market across the roads, regulation, and regional transport segment.
  • Build and execute a structured account plan that reflects customer priorities and aligns with major government spending programmes and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop long-term relationships with senior stakeholders across central government, regulatory bodies, and regional transport authorities.
  • Create persuasive value propositions for AWS offerings, including analytics, AI and machine learning, IoT, and modern data platforms.
  • Identify and progress opportunities in areas such as replacing multi-cloud environments, building digital twins, migrating legacy systems, improving live traffic operations, and modernising regulatory digital services.
  • Coordinate partner activity so that partner-led opportunities are developed effectively and AWS reaches more of the market.
  • Work closely with customers to understand technical needs and collaborate with Solutions Architects, specialist teams, and Professional Services to shape solutions that address those needs.
  • Engage with policy makers, officials, advisers, and delivery partners across the transport ecosystem to support account development and opportunity creation.
  • Prepare and present business reviews for senior management, covering progress, pipeline development, and any issues affecting growth in the territory.

How the role looks day to day

No two days are expected to be the same. One day may begin with preparation for a strategic discussion with National Highways about its digital transformation plans, followed by a working session with Solutions Architects and partners to develop a proposal for Transport for London’s next-generation road user charging platform. Later in the day, you might run a workshop with Transport for Greater Manchester on how AI-driven analytics could improve bus network capacity, then finish with a pipeline review alongside your manager and specialist sales colleagues.

You would also regularly work with Department for Transport policy teams to understand how wider transport strategy creates technology opportunities, and support DVLA and DVSA in modernising regulatory digital services. Internal collaboration is a key part of the job, with regular interaction with Solutions Architects, Professional Services, partner teams, and specialist sales overlays. Externally, you would be engaging with senior technology and operations leaders in central government transport organisations, regulatory agencies, and regional combined authorities. The problems you help solve include infrastructure modernisation, better use of data for decision-making, improved operational efficiency, and enabling government to achieve more with existing transport networks through technology.
