The Reliability Maintenance Engineering team plays a critical role in keeping Amazonâs operations running smoothly. In this on-site technician role, you will help maintain essential machinery, support safe working conditions, and reduce equipment downtime across a busy distribution environment. The position is hands-on and practical, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, rapid fault response, and continuous improvement.
What you will do
- Perform planned and preventative maintenance on a broad variety of site equipment to keep it operating safely and reliably.
- Respond to equipment failures in a live warehouse setting, diagnose problems, and complete repairs quickly.
- Use modern tools and maintenance methods to improve equipment performance and overall operational effectiveness.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times and help reinforce a safe workplace for everyone on site.
- Support apprentices by contributing to their learning, development, and progression.
- Take part in improvement projects and help spread better working practices across multiple European locations.
- Work closely with more senior colleagues on everyday maintenance tasks, including jobs such as painting and plumbing when required.
- Liaise with outside contractors when specialist expertise is needed.
- Contribute ideas for longer-term fixes and process improvements that reduce repeat issues and downtime.
- Work across a variety of shifts so the site is supported around the clock, including early starts, late finishes, and night work.
What the role looks like day to day
This is a site-based position, which means you will be close to the equipment and able to react quickly when something goes wrong. Your day may include scheduled maintenance, urgent breakdown response, investigation work, and implementing practical solutions. You will also be expected to think beyond immediate repairs and suggest ways to improve reliability over time. The role involves supporting the wider operation so that Amazon can continue delivering quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption.
The team also helps ensure buildings remain legally compliant and that operational sites run at maximum efficiency. Because the work is tied to a fast-moving logistics network, maintenance often takes place during early or late hours, including overnight shifts, to limit disruption to operations.
About the team
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is made up of technically minded people who work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across Amazonâs fulfilment network. The group includes both hands-on technicians and leaders who oversee work on advanced systems, including technology that is unique to Amazon.
The teamâs responsibilities can range from installing automated packaging systems to maintaining site infrastructure and repairing key distribution equipment. A major part of the work is keeping operations safe, compliant, and efficient so customer orders can be processed and delivered on time. The team also looks for opportunities to improve how things are done and may help introduce new processes or technologies, including robotics and advanced sorting systems.
There are opportunities to progress within the RME function and more broadly across Amazon for people who want to build their careers further.
