Amazon is looking for a senior process engineering professional to join the EU Customer Fulfillment Process Engineering organisation in an onsite role with no shift rotation. The position sits in a high-ambiguity environment and is designed for someone who can work through problems that are not yet clearly defined, use sound judgement to set direction, and shape long-term solutions. The role also offers broad exposure to strategic work across Europe, with opportunities to lead local and EU-wide initiatives, coordinate programmes across multiple sites, and support the development of junior colleagues.
Team context
The EU Customer Fulfillment Process Engineering team is responsible for stabilising processes, standardising ways of working, and driving continuous improvement across the EU fulfilment network. The team sets high performance standards, introduces new technologies, and helps operational leaders strengthen their technical understanding. It supports operations in delivering process and technology improvements while reducing variation in performance between shifts, buildings, and regions. Working closely with central teams, the group prioritises resources to improve process metrics across all paths.
What you will do
- Lead improvement work by benchmarking site performance against the wider network and identifying where the building can improve.
- Run weekly performance reviews with site leadership and serve as the building’s cost-focused champion.
- Carry out deep-dive analysis, translate findings into action plans, and present recommendations to senior leaders.
- Use AI and advanced analytics to generate detailed operational insight and reduce the manual analytical burden on operations teams.
- Join daily operational reviews and Gemba walks with FC leadership to identify waste and work with operations teams to remove it.
- Coach and develop SMEs and SSMEs in Lean methods and operational excellence.
- Independently lead continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen and Kaikaku.
- Identify local innovations, assess which ones should be scaled, and roll out best practices across the EU network.
- Own the deployment of EU network initiatives assigned to the fulfilment centre and keep delivery on track against agreed timelines.
- Support pilots and tests committed to by the FC so they do not slow down broader EU rollouts.
- Lead EU projects that require coordination across several sites.
- Build strong working relationships with the Site Leader and the Senior Management Team.
- Provide operational support to the site management team during Q4, depending on the needs of the building.
Core capabilities for success
- Comfort with ambiguity and complexity, including situations where information is incomplete and the right path forward must be defined.
- Ability to make decisions, set goals, and navigate difficult trade-offs while keeping long-term outcomes in view.
- Strong influence and consensus-building skills across teams, locations, and levels of seniority.
- Deep understanding of Lean and operational excellence approaches, with the ability to model strong practice and raise standards across the team.
- Strategic thinking and programme management capability, including the ability to manage multi-site work and connect operational decisions to business and customer impact.
What you need
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in operations management.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, including the ability to understand and follow direction in English.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement work with measurable results, or experience delivering outcomes on large cross-functional initiatives or projects.
- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in programme or project management, including delivery of cross-functional projects.
- Lean Yellow Belt certification or above; if you do not already have it, you will need to earn it within 12 months of joining.
- Experience acting as a subject matter expert in a specific fulfilment process.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment where the challenge, strategy, or solution may not be fully defined.
- Capability to make decisions with limited information and manage competing priorities over the long term.
- Ability to influence across functions, sites, and seniority levels while aligning stakeholders around a shared direction.
- Strong Lean and continuous improvement knowledge, with the ability to demonstrate best practice and elevate team performance.
- A strategic, programme-focused mindset that links operational choices to wider business and customer outcomes.
