The Amazon Web Services Professional Services team is looking for an experienced cloud architect to join AWS and help customers turn their cloud plans into real business results. In this role, you would work directly with customers to understand their technical requirements and commercial goals, then shape and deliver tailored cloud solutions that support those outcomes. You would play an important part in the sales process by bringing technical depth, guiding customers through their cloud journey, and helping ensure that proposed solutions can actually be delivered successfully.
This position sits within AWS Professional Services, a global group of specialists that helps customers achieve the outcomes they want from AWS. The team works alongside customer organizations and the AWS Partner Network to support enterprise cloud initiatives, and it provides targeted guidance through specialist practices across different technologies, industries, and solution areas.
What you would do
- Develop detailed AWS solution designs that are complex, scalable, and secure, while also preparing estimates and proposals that support customer business outcomes.
- Work with customers to uncover their technical needs and business objectives, then convert those needs into cloud architectures and implementation plans.
- Provide technical direction and practical best practices during both the sales stage and the implementation stage.
- Coordinate closely with Account Executives and delivery teams so that the proposed approach is realistic, feasible, and aligned to delivery capability.
- Act as a dependable advisor to customers by sharing perspective on market trends, emerging technologies, and innovative ways to solve business problems.
- Contribute to the wider organization by mentoring others, running training, producing reusable materials, and helping improve internal processes.
- Help influence the creation of statements of work and support implementations that achieve customer business outcomes while also meeting or exceeding customer satisfaction expectations.
- Use your consulting and architecture background to translate technical concepts into clear business value for customers and internal stakeholders.
What the role requires
- Extensive cloud architecture and implementation experience, with at least 10 years in this area.
- Proven experience delivering large enterprise IT programs.
- Practical knowledge of compliance and risk controls in IT environments, including areas such as security, privacy, SOX, and HIPAA.
- Experience working with software development life cycle approaches and agile or iterative delivery methods.
- The ability to design enterprise-grade solutions that are both technically sound and aligned to customer needs.
Preferred background
- Understanding of enterprise security and compliance standards across a broad technology landscape.
- Experience deploying AWS services in distributed computing environments.
- Experience managing relationships with senior executives and other key business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman, including how business services, information, applications, and infrastructure connect.
- Experience working with enterprise platforms and applications such as SAP, Oracle, and custom-built systems.
