Group Management Accountant Overview

Company Name Fractile
Job Role Group Management Accountant
Qualifications Not Specified
Category Finance Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This is a hands-on group management accounting position for someone who is already operating at this level and wants immediate responsibility from day one. The role reports to the Financial Controller and sits within a finance team that supports a fast-scaling technology company building compute infrastructure for next-generation AI. The finance function is described as the backbone of the business, and the successful candidate will be expected to work independently, establish their own pace and routines quickly, and bring strong discipline and reliability to a growing environment.

The company has around 120 people across London, Bristol, and San Francisco, and the finance team supports a business working on complex hardware and chip engineering challenges. This role is central to keeping the group’s reporting, systems, and operational finance processes running smoothly as the organisation expands.

What you will do

  • Own the full monthly management accounts cycle for the group, including consolidated reporting across UK, Taiwan, and US entities.
  • Prepare and review intercompany reconciliations, foreign currency translation, and elimination entries.
  • Manage the month-end close timetable, covering accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Apply technical accounting treatments under FRS 102, including fixed assets, lease accounting for right-of-use assets, capitalisation policy, and revenue recognition.
  • Take responsibility for the finance systems landscape, which currently runs on Xero across entities and is due to move to NetSuite.
  • Maintain the quality of the chart of accounts, tracking categories, and reporting hierarchies across the group.
  • Contribute directly to the NetSuite implementation, including data migration, system setup, and reporting design.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across the finance stack to reduce manual work and improve the speed of the close.
  • Produce budget-versus-actual reporting, investigate variances, and write clear commentary for budget holders.
  • Build rolling cash flow forecasts and update them through rephasing as business needs change.
  • Create spend reporting and dashboards for engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders.
  • Oversee accounts payable activity, including payment runs and supplier query management.
  • Support R&D tax credit claims and ensure UK statutory compliance obligations are met.
  • Document finance processes and drive continuous improvement as the function develops.
  • Work closely with the Financial Controller while being expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

What the company is looking for

  • ACA qualified with strong post-qualification experience; ACCA or CIMA may also be considered where the candidate has equivalent technical and audit experience.
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts in a group structure, ideally involving multiple entities and multiple currencies.
  • Practical confidence with FRS 102 and the ability to apply it in day-to-day accounting work.
  • Experience with ERP systems, with Xero and/or NetSuite especially desirable.
  • Very strong Excel skills, including the ability to build models, reconciliations, and analysis independently.
  • A strong ownership mindset, with the ability to spot what needs doing and take action without waiting to be asked.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain finance information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Training or experience from a Big 4 or top-10 practice firm is preferred for the qualified accountant route.
  • Experience in a product, hardware, semiconductor, deep-tech, or manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to ERP migration work would be useful.
  • Experience in a venture-backed or pre-revenue scaling business would be helpful.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits would be beneficial.
  • Background supporting FP&A or commercial finance work would also be an advantage.

Why this role stands out

The position offers genuine ownership from the start, rather than a supporting seat on someone else’s work. The finance function is growing in parallel with the wider business, so the person hired will have a direct influence on how the team operates and matures. The Financial Controller is experienced and will work closely with the successful candidate, but the role is designed for someone who can take responsibility quickly and operate with confidence.

The business itself is described as ambitious and technically challenging, with a mission that is positioned as especially compelling within the tech sector. For the right person, this is an opportunity to shape finance processes, systems, and reporting in a company that is scaling quickly.
