What you will do
- Partner with the Chief AGI Scientist and the wider Post AGI Research team to develop, draft, and polish high-impact communications such as thought leadership articles, speeches, and messages for both internal and external audiences, with a strong emphasis on socio-technical research.
- Provide end-to-end communications support for important executive speaking opportunities and internal events, including preparing talking points, developing presentation materials, and coordinating the logistics needed to make those engagements successful.
- Design and run social media plans for executive channels, producing content, monitoring performance, reviewing analytics, and making improvements to increase reach and engagement.
- Act as the primary media liaison for the Post AGI team by managing relationships with reporters, arranging interviews, and shaping communication plans that respond to public perception and media interest.
- Stay informed about trends across the AI industry and collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure communications remain aligned with Google DeepMind’s mission and broader business priorities.
What the role requires
- Extensive experience in speechwriting and direct support for senior executives, with at least seven years in this area.
- At least two years of writing experience in the technology sector, particularly in AI or machine learning.
- Proven ability to interview subject matter experts and convert technical ideas into clear, publishable communications.
- Experience supporting senior executives in public-facing settings and managing interactions with journalists and media outlets.
- Hands-on experience managing corporate social media accounts, content management systems, and analytics tools.
- Experience creating multimedia communications content, including blogs, articles, and keynote materials.
- Ability to communicate scientific and technical topics related to AGI and socio-technical research is strongly preferred.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments while prioritizing multiple complex projects at the same time.
- Strong visual storytelling skills and the ability to create engaging content across multiple digital channels and formats.
- A demonstrated history of earning the confidence of executive leadership, policy experts, media contacts, and other external partners.
- Interest in the societal effects of AI, AGI, and AI-driven scientific innovation, along with an understanding of those issues.
- High emotional intelligence and the adaptability to adjust communication style, tone, and approach depending on the audience and situation.
