This role sits within Google’s EMEA Network Acquisitions planning organization and focuses on long-range network planning for the region. The work is centered on turning demand forecasts into practical infrastructure plans that support Google’s production network, with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. The position is highly analytical and investigative, requiring close coordination with technical and business partners to shape network topology decisions and ensure the right assets are planned at the right time.

As a Technical Program Manager in this area, you will lead complex planning efforts from beginning to end. You will work across multiple teams to gather requirements, assess risks, evaluate technical options, and communicate recommendations clearly. The role calls for someone who can move comfortably between detailed technical discussions with engineers and broader strategic conversations with leadership and business stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Own EMEA network planning work that supports product demand forecasts and the associated infrastructure and asset strategy over time.
  • Run planning processes end to end, making them repeatable, transparent, and capable of handling complex inputs and dependencies.
  • Take in demand forecasts for EMEA traffic and flows, analyze them carefully, and turn them into regional capacity plans.
  • Convert those capacity plans into specific infrastructure needs, including fibre and leased wavelength requirements, while staying aligned with network architecture standards.
  • Carry out detailed technical risk assessments and scenario-based analysis to determine the most suitable network plan.
  • Partner with internal business owners, technical specialists, and strategic negotiators to define requirements, test feasibility, and improve delivery processes.
  • Help drive automation and efficient execution of EMEA network infrastructure planning so delivery is timely and cost-effective.
  • Contribute to the broader goal of improving Google’s production network for performance, resilience, and affordability while supporting future product launches.

What you need

  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical subject, or equivalent practical experience gained in the field.
  • At least five years of program management experience.
  • Direct experience with network infrastructure and network architecture.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations and identifying areas where processes or systems can be improved.
  • Program management experience in networking, including delivery of infrastructure assets and vendor coordination or management.
  • Knowledge of fibre-optic systems and the submarine cable environment, plus familiarity with EMEA and global carrier networks.
  • The ability to use both business and technical judgment to support long-term organizational objectives.
  • A data-led, investigative approach to problem solving, along with strong financial analysis capability.
  • Experience level consistent with a mid-level role, including the ability to drive progress, solve problems, and mentor more junior colleagues.
  • English fluency, as Google notes that English proficiency is required for all roles unless the posting says otherwise.
  • Willingness to work from either London, UK or Dublin, Ireland, with the preferred location selected as part of the application process.

Compensation and perks

  • For Ireland, the posted salary range is €118,000 to €121,000.
  • The package also includes a 15% bonus target.
  • Equity is included, subject to Alphabet’s equity grant terms and approvals.
  • Benefits are provided, and Google directs applicants to its benefits information for more detail.

Team and environment

You would be joining Google’s AI and Infrastructure organization, which supports major products and services by delivering computing and infrastructure at very large scale. The broader team works across areas such as global networking, data center operations, systems research, TPU development, and Vertex AI. The environment is highly cross-functional and global, with collaboration across technical and business groups.
