This role sits within Amazon Logistics and focuses on delivering engineering and facilities projects across a fast-growing delivery station network. The position is aimed at someone who can take ownership of mission-critical initiatives from early planning through to successful handover, helping support new site launches, equipment changes, automation upgrades, and wider building improvements. The work is field-based and tied to multiple locations across the Midlands, Manchester, and London delivery station network, with primary coverage across the UK and Ireland and occasional support for Europe if needed.
What you will do
- Manage engineering deployment projects across Amazon Logistics delivery stations in the UK and Ireland network.
- Take responsibility for a variety of project types, including greenfield site launches, reconfiguration of material handling equipment, retrofits of automated solutions, and other facility or building enhancements.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, starting with equipment ordering and layout checks, then moving through vendor coordination, project plan completion, installation oversight, commissioning, site acceptance testing, and formal handover to internal teams.
- Work closely with different functions to resolve conflicts in requirements and develop workable trade-offs that stay aligned with Amazonâs standards and delivery expectations.
- Review stakeholder designs and customer requirements, provide prompt feedback, and help address technical gaps before they affect the schedule.
- Identify process or standards inefficiencies within the country or at a European level and lead improvement work with the relevant teams.
- Spend time on site and with vendors to monitor progress, keep work moving, solve technical issues, and ensure delivery against agreed standards, timing, and budget.
- Remove blockers and simplify execution so projects can be delivered successfully and launched on time.
What the role looks like day to day
In this position, you will be responsible for the execution of engineering projects in Amazon Logistics delivery stations, mainly across the UK and Ireland, with possible support for Europe when required. Your day may involve coordinating with internal teams and external vendors, visiting sites to check progress, resolving technical issues, and making sure the work stays on track. A major part of the role is keeping projects moving efficiently, reducing bottlenecks, and ensuring delivery against the expected budget, quality, and schedule. The end goal is to support successful launches and help create a strong âday oneâ experience for each project.
What you need
- A bachelorâs degree.
- Practical experience planning, scheduling, and auditing maintenance activities.
- Experience using CMMS software.
- Background working with designs for complex automated material handling systems, packaging technologies, robotics, and high-speed manufacturing environments.
- Ability to use business and technical tools such as Excel, Project, and CAD software.
- Experience leading the technical side of development, testing, and implementation for large, complex technology projects.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, transportation and logistics, or fulfillment and distribution center operations.
- Experience relevant to engineering project delivery in a logistics or industrial environment.
Preferred experience and skills
- Intermediate-level knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL.
- Experience managing third-party vendors.
- Background in Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing methods.
- Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
- Experience with hands-on security engineering.
- End-to-end project management experience, including strategic planning and execution.
- Strong understanding of complex material handling equipment operations and packaging lines, or process design using Lean principles.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment while balancing multiple priorities at once.
- Capability to use data analysis and financial modelling to create measurable business value, such as cost savings, operational improvements, or better customer outcomes.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects in a fast-moving environment.
