This role is part of Google Cloud’s financial services-focused customer engagement work in the UK and Ireland. It is centered on helping customers understand how Google Cloud can solve complex business and technical challenges, with a strong emphasis on pre-sales architecture, technical leadership, and customer advisory work. The position combines cloud solution design, technical selling, and industry-specific knowledge to help win new business and shape how customers adopt Google Cloud.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of the technical account plan and broader strategy for assigned customers, and contribute to planning and supporting targeted sales efforts.
  • Work closely with technical sales colleagues to position Google Cloud effectively and show customers how it differs from competing options.
  • Serve as the customer’s main technical advisor, leading technical conversations that uncover business problems and turn them into cloud-based solutions.
  • Investigate technical questions and remove blockers, while taking part in proofs of concept, product demonstrations, and other hands-on customer engagements.
  • Use your architecture expertise to design solutions that span multiple cloud domains and help secure technical and commercial wins.
  • Create the initial delivery approach for customers and stay engaged through the solution phase as the lead technical contact.
  • Support the move from sales into implementation by contributing to pricing discussions and handing over the final delivery plan to the delivery teams.
  • Monitor progress against the agreed delivery plan and assist cross-functional teams during ramp-up, migration, implementation, and broader delivery phases.
  • Identify and pursue new workloads, including opportunities in infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics, and other areas relevant to the customer.
  • Use your technical credibility and presentation skills to communicate practical, business-relevant solutions to both technical specialists and senior business leaders.
  • Apply security knowledge where needed, including supporting penetration testing activity within existing customer environments.

What the role is about

You will be working in Google Cloud’s enterprise business, helping organizations transform through cloud technology that is designed for security, reliability, and scalability. The team supports customers ranging from developers and businesses to public sector organizations, and this role focuses specifically on financial services customers in the UK and Ireland. The work requires someone who can blend deep technical understanding with commercial awareness and industry insight to help customers adopt Google Cloud successfully.

The position is suited to someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguous situations, influencing stakeholders, and owning outcomes. You will need to move fluidly between architecture discussions, customer workshops, technical demos, solution planning, and business conversations with decision-makers.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in cloud-native architecture in a role that involved direct customer interaction or support.
  • Experience in cloud engineering, on-premises engineering, virtualization, or containerization technologies.
  • Experience presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • Experience with programming languages, debugging, systems design, prototyping, demonstrations, or customer workshops.
  • Experience working with customers in the financial services sector.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience selling technical solutions in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data management, data analytics, cloud AI, networking, migrations, or security.
  • Experience managing the full business cycle, including defining how a solution will be delivered and consumed, then moving it into execution.
  • Experience building long-term technical strategies that reveal additional customer workloads and opportunities.
  • Experience migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.
  • Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and penetration testing.
