The position is for a technical program manager who can combine technical depth with cross-functional coordination to shape infrastructure strategy across data center and network environments. The work involves turning complex infrastructure needs into practical plans, aligning internal and external stakeholders, and helping determine how Google should expand capacity in response to market demand and future technical requirements.

The posting indicates that candidates may choose a preferred working location from London, UK or Dublin, Ireland. The role is described at a mid-level experience band, suited to someone who can make progress on complex problems, operate with a good degree of independence, and support or mentor less experienced team members.

What you will do

  • Partner with teams responsible for physical infrastructure, including data center and network groups, as well as engineering teams, to assess infrastructure options and recommend the most suitable path based on technical fit, market conditions, and business goals.
  • Work across a broad set of internal stakeholders, including cloud engineering, network, security, finance, and legal teams, while also coordinating with external network planners, data center planners, and utility providers to carry out infrastructure strategies end to end.
  • Review global cloud market trends such as hyperscale growth, the move toward hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and changing demand for cloud services, then use those insights to guide infrastructure planning decisions.
  • Translate advanced technical requirements for cloud infrastructure, including power density, cooling, network connectivity, latency, security, and compliance, into concrete specifications that can be used for infrastructure planning and execution.
  • Help define and build new products when needed so that future infrastructure needs for cloud and AI expansion can be met.
  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary programs from initiation through delivery, keeping requirements, risks, schedules, and cross-functional communication organized throughout the lifecycle.
  • Communicate analyses and recommendations clearly to senior leaders while also discussing technical tradeoffs with engineering partners.

What the role requires

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Five or more years of experience managing technical projects in a changing industry.
  • Experience with planning, evaluating, and negotiating data center or network infrastructure, including work connected to launching new regions.
  • Five or more years of experience in data centers, network infrastructure, cloud computing, or another technical infrastructure domain.
  • Proven ability to work with executive leadership, supported by strong communication, discussion, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfort with financial modeling and cost-optimization methods for infrastructure, such as data center or network environments.
  • Deep familiarity with hyperscale cloud architecture, networking, power, or cooling technologies.
  • Ability to operate in English, since the company states that English proficiency is required for all roles unless the posting says otherwise.

Compensation and benefits

  • The Ireland compensation range listed in the posting is €118,000 to €121,000.
  • That pay range is shown together with a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
  • The posting points candidates to Google’s benefits information for more detail.
  • Equity is described as discretionary and subject to Alphabet’s approval and the terms of the relevant stock plan and grant agreement.
