This role sits within Arm’s Infrastructure Engineering and Applications organization and focuses on making sure the company’s hardware platform performs at a world-class level. What you will do

  • Take ownership of hardware performance across Arm’s platform estate and ensure the environment remains highly optimized for the company’s needs.
  • Maintain the current cross-vendor hardware catalogue and help shape the future roadmap for mobile, laptop, workstation, desktop, and server platforms.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to design and run hardware performance tests based on realistic engineering workloads.
  • Develop and keep up-to-date documentation for server systems and operational processes, making sure the hardware offerings are aligned to Arm’s core workload requirements.
  • Partner with operating system teams so the hardware estate can support both current and future operating system requirements for deployment and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the automation team to ensure hardware management follows an infrastructure-as-code-first approach.
  • Encourage reuse of Arm-built hardware wherever possible across the hardware portfolio.
  • Act as the go-to authority for hardware platforms across the company.
  • Work with hardware suppliers to align product roadmaps and help secure continuity of supply for all hardware requirements.
  • Deliver a complete hardware management platform that works across several hardware vendors.
  • Work alongside infrastructure and engineering teams to provide performant platforms that enable engineers to deliver on Arm’s business objectives.

What you need

  • Substantial enterprise experience in hardware benchmarking and optimization, with evidence of working with hardware partners to create shared roadmaps.
  • Practical experience improving hardware performance in both end-user and server settings.
  • Solid knowledge of automation in the context of hardware management and benchmarking.
  • Experience choosing hardware for Linux, Windows, and Apple operating systems.
  • Experience with data centre hardware management tools from multiple vendors, including HPE OneView, Dell OpenManage, and Fujitsu iRMC.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-supplier hardware environment.
  • Desirable experience: working in a high-performance computing environment.
  • Desirable experience: understanding containers and benchmarking workloads that can move between environments.
