SAP ABAP S/4 Hana Architect – UK Overview

This role is for a senior SAP technology architect with a focus on ABAP for S/4HANA, based in London. The position sits within Infosys’ delivery organization and is aimed at someone who can contribute across architecture, design, development support, and technical problem-solving in a client-facing environment.

What you will do

• Partner with important stakeholders and apply your technical expertise throughout the software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements through to architecture definition and solution design.
• Produce strong design artefacts and other documentation that support high-quality delivery.
• Evaluate whether proposed solutions are technically workable and find efficient ways to meet client needs.
• Work as part of a team and coordinate closely with both offshore and onshore colleagues.
• Contribute to a workplace culture that values learning, collaboration, excellence, and respect for diversity.
• Use your ABAP experience to support the planning, design, build, implementation, and testing of scripts, custom reports, user enhancements, dialog programs, and bespoke objects such as Z-tables and match codes.
• Assist with Fiori app customisation and related SAP user experience work.
• Investigate and resolve performance issues using tools for runtime analysis, SQL tracing, and system dump review, while also supporting tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity-related analysis.
• Work with integration and interface technologies including REST, SOAP, OData, SAP AIF, web services, MES interfaces, SOA Manager, and DRF.
• Apply knowledge of SAP PP where needed in the delivery of the solution.

What you need

• Substantial hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA ABAP, including current releases.
• Practical use of Eclipse and ADLC tools.
• Experience with S/4HANA ABAP capabilities such as workflows, AMDP, CDS, BRF+, and BOPF.
• Working knowledge of REST, SOAP, and OData APIs, plus SAP AIF, in-app extensibility, and Adobe Forms.
• Deep ABAP/4 programming background covering ALV, interactive and classical reporting, OSS note implementation, Smart Forms, Menu Painter, user exits, BAdIs, RFC, dialog programming, and the ABAP Data Dictionary.
• Experience delivering ABAP solutions end to end, including design, build, implementation, and testing for scripts, custom reports, enhancements, dialog programs, and custom objects.
• Ability to support and tailor Fiori applications.
• Strong familiarity with SE30, ST05, and ST22 for performance analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
• Knowledge of MES interfaces, web services via SOA Manager, and DRF.
• Understanding of the SAP PP module.
• Experience in life sciences is preferred.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical sector is preferred.
• Ability to work in more than one language is desirable, but English is required.
