Cloud Enterprise Architect, Professional Services, Google Cloud Overview

Company Name Google
Job Role Cloud Enterprise Architect, Professional Services, Google Cloud
Qualifications Bachelor’s
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This position sits within Google Cloud Consulting Professional Services, where the team supports customers through the most important stages of their cloud transformation journey. The work focuses on helping organizations evolve their businesses using Google’s global infrastructure, large-scale data center capabilities, and software platform. In this role, you would help enterprise customers design, migrate, and modernize their environments on Google Cloud while working in a fast-moving, highly collaborative business.

As an Enterprise Architect, you would partner with customers to shape how they move to Google Cloud Platform and how they modernize their infrastructure, applications, and data. The role combines pre-sales architecture support, delivery involvement, migration guidance, and deep technical advising for Google’s largest customers. You would work closely with sales and customer engineering teams on proposal development and Requests for Proposals, helping define the technical architecture, the services approach, the expected scope of work, and the likely delivery timeline. The position also involves helping teams create approaches that can be repeated consistently across engagements, rather than one-off solutions.

You would be expected to advise customers on architecture principles and create blueprints that serve as the basis for migration to Google Cloud. The role also includes helping develop and implement new methods that improve consistency and repeatability in delivery. In addition, you would represent best practices across infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data modernization, and related technical areas, while collaborating with teams across Google and with the wider services partner community.

What you would do

  • Build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across customer and partner organizations so that technical solutions and services are delivered successfully.
  • Use your technical judgment and developer insight to shape important product decisions.
  • Expand the reach of existing solutions or turn them into reusable assets, such as recommended practices, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and thorough documentation.
  • Work with internal and external developers, users, partners, clients, and other stakeholders to plan and guide solution code development.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across organizations and throughout the process lifecycle to provide technical direction and identify current or new solution offerings that can help achieve the desired outcome.
  • Support enterprise customers with pre-sales architecture work, delivery planning, and migration execution for Google Cloud engagements.
  • Contribute to RFP responses and proposal work by partnering with sales and customer engineering on architecture and services strategy.
  • Help determine the scope of services, the staffing model, and the expected delivery schedule for customer projects.
  • Advise on architecture best practices and produce architectural blueprints that support migration to Google Cloud.
  • Help create, refine, and implement approaches that make delivery more consistent and repeatable across engagements.
  • Promote and apply best practices in infrastructure, application, and data modernization.
  • Work across Google and with services partners to support successful customer outcomes.

What the role asks for

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on practical experience.
  • At least seven years spent troubleshooting technical issues for internal or external partners or customers.
  • Experience with system design or the ability to read code in a language such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • A master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Applied Science, or a related subject is preferred.
  • At least ten years of experience managing projects and working with analytics, software development, or customer-side web technologies.
  • At least ten years of experience in data analysis and SQL/MySQL.
  • At least ten years in a customer-facing position.
  • At least ten years in operations management, including process improvement, operational review, and workflow optimization.
  • At least ten years working with Unix or Linux systems and command-line tools.
  • Strong capability in dealing with ambiguous problems, making decisions, taking ownership of outcomes, and influencing stakeholders with deep domain expertise.
  • English fluency, since Google states that English proficiency is required for all roles unless the posting says otherwise.
