What you will do

  • Take full ownership of complex research and engineering deliverables, including implementing and scaling machine learning systems that operate at the intersection of quantum computing and machine learning, using both traditional and agentic methods where appropriate.
  • Help advance the algorithms workstream by converting classical and quantum algorithm ideas into reliable code, making thoughtful choices about implementation speed, efficiency, simplicity of design, and sustainability over time.
  • Improve collaboration between researchers and engineers by serving as a communication link, promoting clear and readable code, encouraging sound engineering habits, and preparing effective design documents.

What the role requires

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Five or more years of experience spanning machine learning, engineering, and Python-based software development.
  • Hands-on experience with data structures or algorithms in an academic or professional setting.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: a PhD in a relevant scientific or computational discipline.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: experience with agentic AI and modern machine learning techniques such as diffusion models, transformers, agentic tools, and large language models.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: familiarity with quantum computing concepts.
  • Strong collaboration skills, since the role requires working closely with specialists in quantum computer science, mathematics, computational chemistry, physics, and machine learning.
  • Ability to operate in a research-heavy environment while also producing robust engineering output that can be scaled and maintained.
