This role sits within Google Cloud Consulting Professional Services, where the team helps customers navigate the most important stages of their cloud transformation. The work focuses on enabling organizations to grow and modernize by using Google’s global network, large-scale data centers, and software infrastructure. In this position, you will act as a Cloud AI Engineer, helping customers design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions that solve real business problems.
You will work with Google’s largest and most engaged cloud customers, serving as a technical expert who helps them adopt Google Cloud products successfully. The role combines solution design, hands-on implementation, customer education, and close collaboration with internal product teams. It is intended for someone who can drive progress independently, solve complex problems, and also support and mentor less experienced colleagues.
What you will do
- Serve as a trusted technical partner for customers and help them work through challenging machine learning problems.
- Advise customers on the practical realities of building machine learning systems, including feature extraction, feature definition, data validation, and the ongoing monitoring and management of features and models.
- Work alongside customers, partners, and Google product teams to turn tailored solutions into production systems.
- Create and share practical guidance such as best-practice recommendations, tutorials, blog content, and sample code.
- Support customer implementations of Google Cloud through architecture advice, recommended practices, data migration, capacity planning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and related delivery work.
- Design and implement machine learning solutions for customer use cases using Google technologies such as TensorFlow, Dataflow, and Vertex AI.
- Help customers identify where machine learning can add value in their business, then assist with deployment and deliver workshops that build customer capability and confidence.
- Work closely with product management and engineering teams to improve Google products while delivering customer outcomes.
- Travel within the region as needed, up to 30%, for meetings, technical reviews, and on-site delivery activities.
What you need
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
- At least three years of experience building machine learning solutions and working with technical customers.
- Experience designing enterprise cloud solutions and taking customer projects through to completion.
- Programming ability in one or more general-purpose languages such as Python, Java, Go, C, or C++, along with knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience at a mid-level scope, with the ability to drive work forward, solve problems, and mentor junior team members.
- Preferred background in recommendation systems, data pipelines, or distributed machine learning.
- Preferred experience with deep learning frameworks or tools such as TensorFlow or XGBoost.
- Preferred understanding of the operational concerns involved in running machine learning systems in production.
- Preferred knowledge of data warehousing, including warehouse architecture, infrastructure components, ETL or ELT, and analytics or reporting tools and environments such as Apache Beam, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, and MapReduce.
- English proficiency, which Google says is required for all roles unless the posting explicitly states otherwise.
