Category Finance Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This role sits within Google Cloud and focuses on the planning and expansion of the infrastructure that supports cloud and AI growth. The position is intended for someone who can combine technical depth with program leadership to guide complex, cross-functional work from concept through execution. The work centers on making sure infrastructure decisions are grounded in technical realities, market conditions, and business priorities, while also supporting the long-term needs of Google Cloud customers around the world.

Google Cloud is described as the company’s enterprise cloud business, built to help organizations transform digitally using Google’s technology and developer tools. The organization serves customers in more than 200 countries and territories, and this role contributes to the infrastructure foundation that enables that scale.

What you will do

  • Partner with teams responsible for physical infrastructure, including data center and network groups, as well as engineering teams, to assess possible solutions and recommend the most suitable path based on technical requirements, market realities, and business goals.
  • Work across a broad set of internal partners, including cloud engineering, networking, security, finance, and legal, while also coordinating with external network planners, data center planners, and utility providers to deliver complete infrastructure strategies.
  • Review global cloud market developments, such as hyperscale growth, the move toward hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and changing demand for cloud services, then use those findings to shape infrastructure planning and investment decisions.
  • Turn complex infrastructure needs into practical planning inputs, including requirements related to power density, cooling, network connectivity, latency, security, and compliance.
  • Help define and build new products where needed so that future infrastructure needs for Cloud and AI expansion can be met.

What the role involves day to day

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you are expected to lead technically complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives and keep them moving from start to finish. That means working with stakeholders to define requirements, identify and manage risks, maintain schedules, and communicate clearly with partners across the company. The role also requires comfort in both executive and technical settings: you should be able to explain analysis and recommendations to senior leaders and also discuss engineering tradeoffs in detail with technical teams.

The posting also notes that this is a mid-level position, aimed at someone with experience driving progress, solving problems, and supporting the development of less experienced team members.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Five years of experience managing technical projects in a changing industry.
  • Experience with planning, evaluating, and negotiating data center or network infrastructure, including work connected to launching new regions.

Preferred qualifications

  • Five years of experience in data centers, network infrastructure, cloud computing, or another technical infrastructure domain.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and strong skills in communication, discussion, and stakeholder management.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and approaches to reducing infrastructure costs, such as for data centers or networks.
  • Deep knowledge of hyperscale cloud architecture, networking, power, or cooling technologies.

Compensation and location

The posting states that pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. For Ireland, the listed salary range is €118,000 to €121,000, with a 15% bonus target, plus equity and benefits.

When applying, candidates can indicate a preferred working location from London, UK or Dublin, Ireland.
