This senior commercial leadership role sits within the Google Cloud Universal Ledger go-to-market organization, which is responsible for the early rollout of Google’s blockchain platform designed for financial services. The team’s mission is to help reshape global financial infrastructure by promoting a compliant, always-on, programmable network that can replace older payment rails, improve capital efficiency, support faster cross-border transfers, and enable new agentic finance workflows.
In this position, you would act as a high-impact driver of adoption for Google Cloud Universal Ledger. The role is centered on identifying promising opportunities in financial services, turning them into concrete business outcomes, and helping create the network density needed for the platform to succeed. You would work in a specialist-led sales environment and focus on securing the first transacting participants, using multiple currencies to build momentum. A major part of the job is converting strategic vision into pioneering commercial agreements and working with market makers to bring broader financial ecosystems onto the platform. The broader goal is to position the infrastructure as a neutral, trusted layer that helps institutions move value across currencies more efficiently while avoiding the compliance challenges associated with public blockchain networks.
What you will do
- Act as a deep expert in financial infrastructure, including payments, banking, and capital markets, and use that knowledge to identify modernization opportunities and remove operational bottlenecks.
- Work directly with senior executives across treasury, technology, strategy, and payments functions, shaping their thinking and helping them reach major organizational decisions.
- Progress opportunities from first interest through pilot execution, contract negotiation, and final commercial rollout, ensuring momentum is maintained throughout the sales cycle.
- Own and close large, complex financial-services accounts for Google Cloud, with the aim of building long-term partnerships that support digital transformation.
- Develop strong relationships with executive teams at market makers and settlement banks, and collaborate with internal leadership to align deal terms in a way that supports adoption of Google Cloud Universal Ledger.
What Google is looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, finance, or business, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 12 years of experience in sales, consulting, or engineering within financial services.
- At least 5 years of experience managing projects or accounts.
- Experience building and executing business plans that span multiple years.
- Strong ownership, sound judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to influence stakeholders at a senior level.
- Preferred background in blockchain, distributed ledger technology, or digital asset infrastructure within financial services.
- Preferred experience with banking payments.
- Preferred evidence of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue or adoption targets.
- Preferred commercial deal-making experience, including pricing strategy and subscription-based revenue models.
- Preferred success in launching new offerings or entering new markets.
- Preferred experience managing external partnerships with financial institutions and market makers.
- Strong English proficiency, which Google says is required for all roles unless the posting states otherwise.
