  • Handle a mix of daily team leadership, routine operational work, process improvement activity, and wider contingency planning.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for new managers joining the business.
  • Drive implementation of improvements and ensure they are adopted effectively across the operation.

What the role looks like day to day

This is a shift-based position at one of Amazon’s sites. Your main responsibility is to keep the operation productive while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and shift performance. The work is varied and can include regular management duties, hands-on operational oversight, process improvement work, and broader tasks that support business continuity.

What Amazon is looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification or background, in business, operations, logistics, supply chain, or engineering.
  • Experience collaborating effectively across functions and building strong working relationships with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience managing teams, motivating people, and influencing behaviour.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, including the use of root-cause analysis.
  • The ability to handle complex tasks quickly, work with little guidance, and respond promptly when urgent situations arise.
  • Availability for a flexible working pattern that includes weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Preferred experience in a distribution centre, logistics environment, or manufacturing setting.
