Software Integration Engineer – Bloomberg Broadway Overview

Company Name Bloomberg
Job Role Software Integration Engineer – Bloomberg Broadway
Qualifications Bachelor’s
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This role sits within Bloomberg Broadway, a team that builds and delivers high-performance distributed systems used to streamline the trading and transacting of money and financial assets. The platform is designed to help clients create, adapt, and scale intelligent systems for fixed income markets with a level of flexibility and control that was previously out of reach. The position is centered on solution architecture, client engagement, and systems integration rather than heavy day-to-day coding.

What you will do

  • Design and roll out bespoke workflows for trading platforms where latency, reliability, and precision matter.
  • Set up and connect Broadway’s modular components so they align with each client’s specific operating model and technical needs.
  • Act as a product-minded technical lead by shaping smaller delivery increments and helping define what should be built next through a micro-product-management approach.
  • Work directly with front-office users and technical stakeholders, including traders, quants, IT teams, and business leaders, to uncover how they work and turn that understanding into implementable designs.
  • Own delivery across the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering through scheduling and coordination to solution quality and stakeholder alignment.
  • Bring real client scenarios back into the product and engineering process so the platform continues to improve and evolve in response to actual usage.
  • Write light code when needed in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or C# to support integration, customization, or extension work.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical partner at the intersection of business logic, architecture, and client delivery, helping shape systems that are actively used in the market.

What you need

  • Five or more years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, or solution architecture in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, including the ability to troubleshoot issues, configure services, and optimize large-scale platforms.
  • Experience working in real-time or high-throughput environments, ideally in capital markets or another similarly time-sensitive setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain ideas clearly, influence decisions, and guide both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort working with databases, especially SQL, and using scripting languages to support integration and customization tasks.
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a comparable field, or equivalent practical experience gained through hands-on work.
  • Experience collaborating directly with customers to deliver software, whether through integration projects or development work.
  • A background in front-office trading or capital markets is especially desirable, with fixed income experience particularly valued.
  • The ability to translate business objectives into system designs and integration plans.
  • Curiosity and depth of thinking, including a willingness to go beyond initial requirements to create resilient and scalable solutions.
  • Self-direction and a strong sense of ownership when navigating technical, process, and interpersonal challenges.
  • A collaborative mindset that includes sharing knowledge, building on the work of others, and helping raise the capability of the wider team.
  • Flexibility around the stated years of experience, since the company will consider applicants who can demonstrate the necessary skills even if they do not match the exact number listed.
