Algolia is hiring a Solutions Engineering Manager to lead its EMEA North team and help scale technical pre-sales support across the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, and Benelux. The role sits within the broader EMEA Solutions Engineering leadership structure and reports to the Senior Director, Global Solutions Engineering. It is designed for a hands-on technical leader who can balance people management, customer engagement, and cross-functional execution while helping drive technical wins and regional growth.
The team supports commercial, enterprise, and strategic accounts. Solutions Engineers at Algolia work closely with customers and prospects to understand business challenges, design and build solutions, and act as deep product experts who help solve real problems through code, guidance, and content. In this role, you would be the technical leader closest to customers in the region, both internally and externally, and would play an important part in the continued expansion of Solutions Engineering across EMEA.
What you would do
- Lead and develop a team of about six Solutions Engineers serving commercial, enterprise, and strategic accounts across EMEA North.
- Coach the team to strengthen technical storytelling and shape the pre-sales narrative throughout the sales process.
- Take ownership of the technical evaluation process for regional opportunities, from early discovery through evaluation and final commercial close.
- Work in close partnership with the regional sales leader and account executives to coordinate coverage, prioritize opportunities, and build shared pipeline and account strategies.
- Support team members in consultative selling by helping them uncover customer business outcomes and connect Algoliaâs capabilities to measurable business value and return on investment.
- Encourage the use of AI to improve team productivity, including AI-assisted coding, automated demo and proof-of-concept creation, and AI-supported discovery and solution design.
- Shape the teamâs use of the Value Engineering process, using quantitative customer data to drive business objectives and strengthen the case for Algolia.
- Partner with Demo Engineering to create compelling demonstrations that clearly show the productâs value and help prove ROI.
- Contribute to quarterly quota attainment by helping secure technical wins on new business in the region.
- Introduce and maintain data-led programs and best practices that improve win rates, shorten sales cycles, increase product adoption, and make revenue-support functions more efficient.
- Maintain strong operational discipline on the team, including consistent customer communication and accurate forecasting of technical wins with account teams.
- Recruit, onboard, and ramp new Solutions Engineers as the team grows and coverage gaps are addressed.
- Work with Customer Success and Professional Services to ensure a smooth technical handoff after the sale and to support adoption, expansion, and renewal.
- Collaborate with Product and R&D to bring insights from the field in the region into the product roadmap.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and consultant to both technical and executive stakeholders, internally and externally.
What the company is looking for
- At least three years of experience leading or coaching technical pre-sales teams in B2B SaaS, or first-line management experience, or a strong senior individual-contributor background with readiness to move into management.
- At least five years of experience as a Solutions Engineer or Solutions Architect working across customer segments from SMB to enterprise and strategic accounts.
- Strong technical grounding, including prior development experience in a high-level programming language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, or a similar language.
- Good understanding of web technologies and how to design architectures that support scalable solutions.
- Practical knowledge of headless architectures, modern commerce stacks, and AI/search applications.
- A proven record of meeting or exceeding quota in different economic conditions.
- Experience hiring, ramping, and developing Solutions Engineers in a high-growth environment.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and solving problems that help businesses progress.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to speak confidently with C-suite stakeholders and represent the team effectively.
- A leadership approach that sets a strong example and helps create a work environment that is supportive while still challenging.
- A coaching mindset, with a track record of developing people and consistently raising team performance.
- Good judgment about when to let the team work through a problem independently and when to step in and help.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% across EMEA North.
- The role must be based in London.
Nice-to-have experience
- Background in search technology.
- Experience in a global or matrixed organization.
- Ability to speak more than one language, especially English plus another EMEA language.
- A computer science degree or a related technical qualification.
