Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Rest of UK

Anaplan is looking for a Platform Software Engineer to join the Core Resource Management team and help develop and support the Kubernetes-based platform that powers the company’s services. This role is centered on building practical, elegant solutions in Rust and making a meaningful contribution from the outset. A major part of the work involves a cost-optimisation initiative that tracks the hosting resources customers consume and automatically adjusts them up or down to better match demand. The team describes this as a high-priority, fast-moving effort with significant strategic value.

What you will do

  • Design, implement, and maintain automation that right-sizes customer hosting resources on Anaplan’s Kubernetes platform.
  • Help reduce cloud spend and improve platform efficiency through better resource usage.
  • Write robust, efficient Rust services that support platform stability and scale.
  • Take responsibility for services across their full lifecycle, including infrastructure definitions, deployment pipelines, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and automated testing.
  • Contribute to weekly architecture and system design discussions that influence the technical direction of the team.
  • Participate in code reviews and help uphold engineering standards.
  • Support the growth of less experienced engineers through mentoring and collaboration.
  • Work closely with teammates and the broader engineering organisation in York to ensure infrastructure work supports company-wide goals.

What the team is looking for

  • Experience with at least one modern backend or systems language such as Rust, Go, C++, Python, or Java, along with a strong interest in focusing primarily on Rust.
  • A history of delivering complex technical projects into production.
  • Hands-on experience with frequent deployments to live systems and, ideally, a true continuous integration and continuous delivery approach.
  • Practical knowledge of observability tools and methods, including monitoring, alerting, and logging platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.
  • Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams and partnering effectively with product managers and other engineering teams.
  • It would be a major advantage to have experience in platform cost optimisation, performance profiling, or capacity planning, especially in a FinOps context.
