Staff Verification Engineer Overview

Company Name IC Resources Recruitment
Job Role Staff Verification Engineer
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Cambridge

This is a chance to join a highly technical hardware team in Cambridge that is working on advanced quantum computing and next-generation system design. The business is operating in a low-profile mode while building out its UK chip team, and the role offers the opportunity to contribute to work that is both technically demanding and at the leading edge of the field. The position is permanent, full-time, and hybrid, with a salary of £90,000 to £115,000 depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits.

The team is looking for a verification specialist who can help define and deliver verification across multiple layers of complex hardware. You do not need prior experience in quantum computing. What matters most is deep verification knowledge, strong debugging ability, curiosity, and the ability to solve problems in areas where the answers are not already established. The role offers broad visibility across the hardware stack and the chance to influence verification direction from an early stage.

What you will be doing

  • Taking responsibility for verification across block-level, subsystem-level, and multi-FPGA system-level designs.
  • Designing and developing scalable UVM-based verification environments that can handle demanding and complex architectures.
  • Driving verification work with a strong emphasis on coverage, reducing technical risk, and checking system-level behaviour thoroughly.
  • Working in close partnership with the Lead Verification Engineer and with other hardware teams to keep verification aligned with wider development goals.
  • Tracking down and resolving difficult technical issues that involve RTL, simulation, and hardware platforms.

What the employer is looking for

  • Substantial hands-on experience using SystemVerilog and UVM in verification work.
  • Proven debugging skills across RTL, simulation environments, and hardware.
  • Experience owning verification planning and verification strategy in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving setting where requirements can change.
  • Some exposure to software or programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
  • Formal verification experience would be beneficial, though it is not listed as essential.
  • A background in quantum computing is not required; the role is open to strong verification engineers from other relevant hardware environments.

Package and working environment

  • Base salary between £90,000 and £115,000, with the exact level depending on experience.
  • Bonus on top of salary.
  • Benefits included as part of the overall package.
  • Hybrid working model.
  • Permanent employment.
  • Opportunity to work on technology that is still being developed by only a small number of people worldwide.
  • A collaborative environment where technical input and curiosity can directly shape the future direction of the work.
