This opportunity is for an Optical Technician to join a fast-growing photonics and space technology business working on assembly, integration, and test activities for laser communication systems. The role supports the production and deployment of optical ground stations and offers the chance to contribute to advanced technology with practical real-world use.

What you will do

  • Assemble, integrate, and test complex optical and optomechanical subsystems used in the company’s products and systems.
  • Support system-level integration and verification work for optical ground station products, helping ensure they meet performance expectations.
  • Carry out precise optical alignment tasks and investigate issues in optical assemblies to resolve faults and improve reliability.
  • Help develop, maintain, and refine test equipment as well as ground support equipment used in production and deployment.
  • Handle component purchasing activities, work with suppliers, and manage incoming inspection of parts and materials.
  • Track inventory carefully so that the required materials and components are available for manufacturing and build activities.
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing records, controlled build instructions, and other production documentation.
  • Support customer deployments, installation work, and field maintenance assignments when required.

  • Additional strength in precision optical alignment and optomechanical assembly.
  • Experience taking products from prototype development into serial production would be an advantage.
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes and production flow would also be beneficial.
