This is a senior-level digital IC design opportunity with a leading semiconductor company developing next-generation power management integrated circuits. The role sits within a collaborative engineering environment and gives the successful candidate ownership of important digital design work from early architecture through to tape-out. It is aimed at an experienced engineer who wants to shape advanced low-power semiconductor products and influence future digital IP direction within a growing business.

You would be working on digital core development for power management ICs, contributing to both brand-new IP and the ongoing improvement of existing blocks. The position involves hands-on RTL design, low-power implementation, synthesis, timing closure, design-for-test work, and coordination with backend and physical implementation partners. The company is looking for someone who can take technical responsibility across the full ASIC flow and work effectively with verification, analog, physical design, and system teams.

What you would do

• Take the lead on digital core development for advanced PMIC products across the full ASIC design process.
• Create new digital IP and enhance or maintain existing IP blocks as product needs evolve.
• Develop clear and practical block-level digital architectures that support robust implementation.
• Write SystemVerilog RTL for low-power ASIC designs and refine the design through implementation.
• Partner with verification engineers to find, analyse, and resolve issues before tape-out.
• Own key parts of the digital flow, including synthesis, timing closure, and design-for-test activities.
• Work with physical implementation teams and external backend design partners to support successful delivery.
• Apply low-power design methods such as clock gating and other optimisation techniques.
• Produce design documentation and technical specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team spanning digital, analog, verification, physical design, and systems engineering.

What the employer is looking for

• A degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline, with a master’s degree preferred.
• Proven background in digital design, ASIC design, or RTL design in the semiconductor sector.
• Strong experience with SystemVerilog RTL and the full digital design and synthesis flow.
• Knowledge of both synchronous and asynchronous digital design approaches.
• Understanding of low-power digital design techniques and implementation methods.
• Experience using Cadence design and simulation tools, or equivalent electronic design automation tools.
• Ability to script in Python, TCL, or CSH would be highly beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well across different engineering functions.
• Experience level suited to a Senior or Staff Digital Design Engineer, ASIC Design Engineer, RTL Design Engineer, or Digital IC Design Engineer.

• Salary of £65,000 to £75,000, depending on experience.
