This role sits within the Global Solutions and Consumer AI organization, which focuses on helping customers realize value quickly by creating repeatable, enterprise-ready solutions that are tightly aligned to business outcomes. The aim is to strengthen Google Cloudâs position as a preferred platform by delivering high-value solutions that are relevant to specific industries and practical for real-world adoption.
In this position, you will work directly with clients to turn early ideas into working solutions. You will use modern machine learning and generative AI techniques to help replace older workflows for customers in capital markets finance. The work is centered on Financial Market Infrastructures, including demanding clearing, settlement, and custody settings where reliability, efficiency, and sound technical judgment are essential. You are expected to be a proactive builder who can work with limited supervision, not only writing code and producing functional prototypes, but also helping shape the critical user journeys and technical requirements needed to move a proof of concept into a scalable, production-ready solution that can be used by a wide range of Google Cloud customers.
What you will do
- Design and implement autonomous agent workflows that combine machine learning and generative AI, including solutions that are fully automated as well as those that keep a human in the loop.
- Work alongside client leads and business stakeholders to identify AI opportunities that can deliver the most meaningful impact.
- Convert business ideas into detailed product requirement documents, with explicit critical user journeys and clear success measures.
- Assess AI solutions and connect them to modern data architectures, including relational databases, lakehouse-style platforms, and real-time streaming systems.
- Build prototypes with a production-first mindset so they are designed from the start to become dependable, scalable solutions.
- Set up foundational CI/CD pipelines and apply infrastructure-as-code practices, such as Terraform, to keep environments secure and reproducible.
- Write concise, useful technical documentation and transition materials so engineering teams can take over smoothly after the proof-of-concept stage.
- Help define the technical scope and requirements that allow a prototype to evolve into a production solution that can be reused across many Google Cloud clients.
What you need
- A bachelorâs degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Six or more years of experience in software engineering or data engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to solve real-world problems with machine learning, including deep learning and reinforcement learning, along with model selection, model identification, and AI operations such as monitoring.
- Hands-on experience applying generative AI and agent orchestration techniques, using tools or frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or Vertex AI Agent Builder, together with vector databases.
- Programming experience in Python, Go, or Java.
- Experience with software design patterns, testing frameworks, and API contract design.
- Comfort working independently and building solutions with minimal guidance.
- Strong English proficiency, unless the posting explicitly states an exception.
Preferred background
- Experience in financial services, particularly in regulatory, clearing, settlement, or custody contexts.
- Familiarity with financial-services regulatory practices, data residency requirements, encryption at rest and in transit using customer-managed encryption keys, and explainable AI expectations in banking.
- Experience with data modeling across relational, NoSQL, and analytical approaches such as star schema and Data Vault.
- Experience in a mature DevOps environment, including trunk-based development, automated testing, and blue/green deployment methods.
- Practical experience with BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
- Ability to move from an ambiguous business problem to a structured PRD and a working technical demo during the discovery phase.
Compensation and other details
The posting lists a Germany compensation range of â¬124,000 to â¬128,000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. The role is described as mid-level, meaning it is intended for someone who can make progress independently, solve problems, and mentor less experienced colleagues while bringing deeper applied expertise in the relevant area.
Applicants can choose a preferred working location from Munich, Germany; Frankfurt am Main, Germany; or London, UK. The posting also notes that English proficiency is required for all roles unless the job description says otherwise.
