C++ Software Engineer Overview

This is an opportunity for a C++ Software Engineer to join a Fortune 100 organisation and global leader in electronic design automation, based in Newcastle. The role sits within a technically focused environment where you will help shape and support a C++ software platform used in a high-performance engineering context.

What you will do

• Develop and support the existing C++ codebase, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of the product and its users.
• Contribute to the build and regression testing system, using it to validate code changes and maintain software quality.
• Implement new features as the product evolves.
• Work to improve the software across several dimensions, including speed, reliability, scalability, and overall functionality.
• Follow an onsite working arrangement and be present in the office five days each week.

What the employer is looking for

• A PhD in a STEM subject, or alternatively an MSc in a STEM subject plus four years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong hands-on C++ development experience.
• Excellent academic performance in mathematics, specifically an A* to B grade at A-level.
• Qt knowledge is desirable and would strengthen an application.
