Capgemini Invent is looking for a Sustainability Consultant to join its sustainable futures team and help clients respond to the challenges and opportunities created by climate change. The role sits within a consulting environment that combines strategy, creativity, science, and technology to design practical solutions for clients. The focus is on helping organisations understand climate-related risks, strengthen resilience, and turn sustainability into measurable business value.

What you will do

• Work directly with clients to assess how climate change could affect their technology, digital services, operations, supply chains, and critical business functions.
• Lead engagements with support from colleagues across Capgemini Invent and the wider Capgemini business, helping clients put sustainability strategies and frameworks into action.
• Identify wider opportunities for value creation so that sustainability work contributes to broader business outcomes, not just compliance or risk management.
• Help clients understand their exposure to climate-related risks and support them in improving business continuity and operational resilience.
• Build climate resilience into transformation programmes so that resilience is considered throughout change initiatives rather than added later.
• Deliver outcomes that are measurable from both a business perspective and a sustainability perspective, using a resilience-by-design approach.
• Act as a visible contributor within the sustainability community by bringing forward new ideas, methods, and potentially relevant start-ups or external innovations.
• Promote the value of sustainability across Capgemini and help colleagues understand why climate resilience and adaptation matter to clients.
• Help train account teams, leaders, and other internal stakeholders on climate resilience, adaptation, and the commercial value these topics can create.
• Support business development through proposal writing, RFP and bid responses, proposition development, and input to client pitches.
• Take part in client-facing events and help represent the practice externally where needed.
• Contribute to internal practice-building work such as campaigns, think tanks, white papers, offer development, recruitment, operations, and team activities.
• Take advantage of learning and development opportunities, including training and certifications that support your career growth and the needs of the business.

What they are looking for

• A background in climate science or another related subject area is likely to be relevant.
• Experience in sustainability, climate risk, resilience, ESG, enterprise risk, or operational resilience consulting is expected.
• You should understand climate adaptation and the physical risks associated with climate change.
• Experience or familiarity with climate risk and resilience issues across sectors such as energy, financial services, and the public sector would be useful.
• You need experience delivering complex consulting work and managing stakeholders effectively.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills are essential.
• You should be comfortable running projects and understand the commercial realities of client delivery.
• A genuine interest in sustainability and the ability to explain its importance to both clients and colleagues would be an advantage.
• Experience with climate risk modelling, resilience planning, or adaptation programmes would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of business continuity, operational resilience, cybersecurity, or disaster recovery would also be helpful.
• Familiarity with climate-related reporting and disclosure frameworks such as TCFD, ISSB, CSRD, TNFD, and ISO 14091 would be valuable.
• Experience in sectors such as government, financial services, utilities, telecommunications, healthcare, or critical infrastructure would be a plus.
• Understanding of Sustainable IT, GreenOps, FinOps, or Sustainable AI would be an additional advantage.
