An international client is seeking a Manufacturing Execution System specialist to take ownership of the MES environment at its manufacturing site in Northamptonshire. This position focuses on keeping the system stable and effective while also improving how it supports production, quality, engineering, and IT operations. The role combines day-to-day technical support with longer-term development work, including process improvement, compliance support, and planning for future MES enhancements.

What you will do

• Serve as the main technical authority for the site’s MES platform, including systems such as PROMIS or comparable solutions.
• Configure, maintain, and resolve issues within the MES to keep availability high and operations running smoothly.
• Link the MES with ERP software and other systems used across the manufacturing environment.
• Maintain disaster recovery arrangements and contribute to system upgrade activities.
• Use MES functionality, automation, and data-quality improvements to help drive better manufacturing performance.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures, technical records, and practical guidance for users and support teams.
• Train system users and provide continuing technical support when issues arise.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and IT teams to support reliable operations and future system changes.
• Ensure the MES environment aligns with quality requirements, change-control processes, and audit expectations.
• Review new MES technologies and help influence the future architecture and implementation of the platform.

What the employer is looking for

• Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Extensive background in MES implementation, configuration, and support, ideally with PROMIS, Siemens Opcenter, Camstar, or a similar platform.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and production workflows.
• Practical experience with scripting or automation, such as DCL or similar tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical ability, along with strong communication skills.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent relevant experience.
• A proactive approach and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a manufacturing setting.
• Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.
• A focus on delivering reliable, efficient manufacturing systems.
