This placement is a 12-month client service opportunity in London starting in September 2027. It is aimed at students looking for a commercially focused, frontline role where they can work directly on live client projects and gain hands-on exposure to the pace and pressure of a client-facing business environment.
AlphaSights describes itself as a global knowledge-on-demand business that connects ambitious professionals with leading investment firms, strategy consultancies, and large corporations. The company helps clients make better decisions by linking them with niche experts around the world, and it combines client service with proprietary technology to stay competitive. The placement sits within the Client Service team, which acts as the bridge between clients and experts.
What you will do
- Serve as the connection point between clients and experts, helping ensure client requests are matched with the most relevant specialist insight.
- Manage several live assignments at the same time for clients such as investors, strategists, and dealmakers at top-tier organisations.
- Take ownership of expert communication, including spending a substantial part of the day on the phone screening experts, negotiating with them, and securing the strongest possible fit for each request.
- Develop a strong grasp of the project brief, the wider market setting, and the legal and regulatory framework that applies to both clients and experts.
- Use AI-supported sourcing tools to map complicated industry ecosystems and identify, contact, and engage appropriate experts.
- Work in a role that is heavily communication-led, requires strong organisation, and demands the ability to juggle priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
- Take part in a business-focused project and gain direct exposure to senior leaders, including the chance to present work to the co-founder and regional head.
Who this role suits
- Students who enjoy a fast-paced, target-driven environment and are motivated by commercial responsibility.
- People with a client-first approach who are comfortable putting the needs of the customer at the centre of their work.
- Candidates who perform well under pressure and can consistently meet tight deadlines.
- Individuals who are resilient, energetic, and willing to take initiative and get involved in whatever is needed.
- Applicants who are comfortable using technology-enabled ways of working and are keen to keep learning new systems and workflows, including AI-based tools.
What you will gain
- Exposure to the business world without being locked into a single industry or profession.
- Transferable commercial and client-management capabilities, including professional communication, negotiation, persuasion, project management, and time management.
- Dedicated time with senior leadership and the opportunity to deliver a meaningful business project to senior stakeholders.
- A possible route back into the company after graduation through a full-time return offer.
- Structured training and intensive early coaching, beginning with the New Joiner Academy during the first weeks of the placement.
What you need to bring
- You must currently be studying for a bachelorâs degree that includes a placement or year-in-industry component, and your expected graduation year should be 2029.
- A strong academic record is required, with at least a 2:1 or equivalent.
- You should be able to show achievement beyond your studies, such as extracurricular leadership, internships, or part-time work experience gained during school or university.
- An interest in business is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- English must be fluent at C2 level.
- Additional European language ability, or experience living and working in continental Europe, is considered an advantage but is not essential.
- You should be able to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment with demanding deadlines and performance expectations.
- You should be resilient, proactive, and ready to work hard to get results.
Pay and perks
- Expected salary is £30,000 to £35,000 per year, depending on individual performance.
- Pay is performance-linked and has no upper limit on earning potential.
- Annual leave includes 25 vacation days, UK bank holidays, and a company closure over Christmas.
- Private health cover and dental insurance are provided.
- The office is centrally located in London.
- Meals and refreshments are supported through subsidised lunch, free breakfast, snacks, and fruit throughout the day.
- There is an option to work from home on Fridays.
How to apply
Applicants are asked to submit their legal first and last name, email address, phone number, CV, and cover letter. The form also asks how you heard about the opportunity, whether you have applied to AlphaSights before, which office you have previously applied to, whether you speak any additional languages at native level, your university, whether your degree includes a placement year, your expected graduation year, your most recent grades, and whether you will need a visa to work in the UK now or in the future.
