An international employer is looking for a Process Development Engineer to join its Technology Development team in Glasgow. The position is centred on improving semiconductor processes for discrete products and making sure process modules achieve the required specifications for performance and reliability. The company is seeking someone who is highly results-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working with data and analytical methods to drive process improvements.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of process module development work for semiconductor manufacturing, helping define and refine modules so they meet target performance and reliability requirements.
  • Develop and optimise key process areas such as patterning, etching, deposition, and metrology, depending on the needs of the programme.
  • Support broader process optimisation efforts at the Glasgow site, contributing to the improvement of semiconductor manufacturing outcomes.
  • Plan and run design of experiments to evaluate process changes and identify the best operating conditions.
  • Analyse process and experimental data to draw conclusions, guide development decisions, and support continuous improvement.
  • Investigate defects and carry out failure analysis to understand issues affecting process performance or product quality.
  • Prepare strong technical documentation and reports that clearly communicate findings, recommendations, and progress.

What the employer is looking for

  • Solid knowledge of semiconductor process technology and device physics.
  • Practical experience in defining and optimising process modules, particularly in areas such as patterning, etching, deposition, or metrology.
  • Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical analysis methods or tools.
  • Experience working directly with semiconductor process equipment is beneficial, though not essential.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar subject area; a higher degree would be an advantage.
  • A professional who is driven by results and able to contribute effectively within a technology development team.
