This is an opportunity for an experienced verification and validation engineer to join a Bristol-based embedded software team supporting a leading global organisation. The role focuses on testing and validation work in an embedded environment, with an emphasis on turning requirements into practical test cases and procedures, using scripting where needed, and carrying out hands-on work in a laboratory setting. The position is offered with a salary of up to £64,000 along with a strong benefits package.

What you will do

• Undertake verification and validation activities for embedded software.
• Convert engineering or product requirements into structured test cases and test procedures.
• Carry out testing and validation work in a lab environment.
• Use scripting skills to support engineering and test activities.
• Work within the wider software engineering lifecycle, contributing from requirements through to test execution and validation.
• Support a role that sits within a high-profile global business and requires a strong embedded software testing background.

What the employer is looking for

• Substantial experience in verification and validation within embedded software.
• Previous embedded software development experience using Ada.
• Direct experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to interpret requirements and turn them into clear, well-structured test cases and procedures.
• Good scripting capability.
• Strong understanding of the full software engineering lifecycle.
• For a stronger match, experience with safety-critical systems would be useful.
• Knowledge of standards and frameworks such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C and DO-330 would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with RTOS environments would be beneficial.
• Experience with test automation would be desirable.
• Knowledge of DOORS would also be helpful.
• Because of the client’s work, applicants must be British citizens.
