Senior Project Manager Overview

This is a senior project management opportunity with a technology business developing advanced wireless communication systems for commercial and defence use. The position sits at the centre of multidisciplinary product development and gives you responsibility for guiding technically complex programmes from the earliest feasibility stages through to production. You will be working with teams covering RF, hardware, firmware and software, helping to turn next-generation connectivity ideas into products that can be manufactured and deployed in the real world.

What the role involves

• Taking ownership of complex hardware and software development programmes from feasibility work all the way through to production.
• Bringing together teams working in RF, embedded software, firmware, PCB design and mechanical engineering so that development stays coordinated and aligned.
• Managing the practical details of delivery, including timelines, budgets, resource planning, risk management and dependency tracking.
• Working alongside operations and manufacturing teams to support new product introduction and the transition from development into production.
• Developing productive relationships with customers, suppliers and external collaborators involved in the programme.
• Preparing and sharing clear project updates and reporting so that stakeholders understand progress, issues and priorities.
• Ensuring that delivery remains tied to wider business objectives and that programmes continue to support company goals.
• Operating as a key link between engineering, operations, manufacturing and commercial functions across the full product lifecycle.

What the employer is looking for

• Experience managing demanding engineering projects in hardware-led environments.
• A solid grasp of multidisciplinary product development, particularly where RF systems, PCB design, embedded software and firmware all need to work together.
• Evidence of delivering projects through the complete development cycle, including the steps needed to reach manufacturing readiness.
• Understanding of stage-gate development methods, together with Agile practices used in software delivery.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and manage stakeholders effectively across different functions.
• Background in wireless communications, telecommunications, defence or advanced electronics would be especially valuable.
• The ability to take control of technically challenging programmes and work confidently with specialist engineering teams.
